The White Label is reserved for ultra-limited wines that exhibit a leaner expression of Bassi Vineyard. We select clones, blocks, yeasts and barrels that cultivate structure, yielding wines with lower alcohol and higher acidity. These wines are all about litheness and clean site expression.
The Chardonnay White Label favors discretion over ripeness, as it composed of early picks in the range of 22 Brix from all three Chardonnay clones planted at Bassi Vineyard. The picks are barrel fermented with both commercial and native yeasts in order to build dimension into the eventual blend. The final blend is made from a selection of standout barrels with the aim of producing a Chardonnay that is lean by nature, but also complete in mouthfeel and flavor.
The Pinot Noir White Label is the yin to the yang of its riper companion from the Black Label lineup. This wine is all about exploring Bassi Vineyard through a taut, focused expression of the Pinot Noir grape. As such, it is a selection of early picks from the vintage that lock in the fruit's cool-climate character. The result is a Pinot Noir that revolves around floral, spicy, and early-season cherry qualities. Natural acidity is pronounced, delivering mouthwatering freshness across the palate.
The Syrah White Label is a wine made to amplify the qualities of a classic cool-climate Syrah, revolving around the red-fruit spectrum with notes of white pepper and savory herb. It comes from earlier picks of the Syrah Noir clone at Bassi Vineyard, which are part of our larger Syrah program that incorporates fruit picked at varying stages of ripeness. Select barrels from the early picks are chosen to make this limited-production Syrah, which is designed to offer a focused palate with luscious acidity.
