The SLO Estate wines come exclusively from Bassi Vineyard. Because the vineyard falls outside of any recognized AVA, these wines are designated with a San Luis Obispo County appellation. But make no mistake—these are limited-production estate bottlings that speak vividly of a single vineyard.
This is our flagship Pinot Noir blend of eight clones that come together to create a complex reflection of our Bassi Vineyard terroir. Bassi Vineyard is located just 1.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean near Avila Beach, outside of any official AVA boundaries. While we are near to other Pinot Noir regions such as Edna Valley and Santa Maria Valley, we are blessed with a wholly distinct Pinot Noir expression that revolves around elegant red fruits, peppery complexity and a clean, lifted finish.
Syrah was the first wine we made from Bassi Vineyard, proving to be the touchstone of a journey that ultimately led us to acquiring the property. We were blown away by the fruit's depth and symmetry, and its signatures of white pepper, lavendar and tapenade. These qualities have held true ever since. Our two Syrah blocks are planted along the eastern shoulder of the ranch, and we employ multiple picks to foster richness and dimension in the wine. This is a classic marine-climate Syrah, right on the pivot point of power and elegance.
